Bali adventure add-ons: swing, ATV and rafting without wrecking the day

Bali Swing, an ATV ride and Ayung river rafting are the three add-ons clients ask for by name after seeing them on social media. All three are easy to sell and easy to mis-schedule.

Bali Swing

Sold as a standard package, usually bundled into a Ubud or Kintamani full day. The activity itself is quick; the queue is not. On a busy morning a group of twenty can lose well over an hour waiting for turns and photographs. Slot it early in the day, not as the last stop before a sunset commitment.

Child band is the usual 3 to 11.

ATV

Priced two ways — single (one rider per quad) and tandem (two). Tandem is the cheaper per head and the usual choice for couples and for a parent riding with an older child.

Sessions are typically around 60 minutes of riding, plus briefing, gearing up and washing off afterwards. Budget closer to two hours end to end. Groups go out in waves, so a party of thirty does not ride at once — the last wave may finish well over an hour after the first.

Ayung river rafting

Usually sold shared, with lunch included. Allow most of a half day: transfer to the put-in, briefing, roughly two hours on the water, then the climb back up to the road — which is a genuine staircase and worth mentioning to older guests.

The age rule that matters: the child band is 7 to 11, not 3 to 11. Younger children cannot raft. If a family with a small child is booked onto a rafting day, someone stays behind, and that changes the vehicle plan for the whole group. Building the day properly

• One adventure activity per day, paired with sightseeing. Two is a rush.
• Adventure activities are quoted separately from the vehicle — the transfer to and from the site is a transport line of its own.
• Wet clothes need a plan. A group going straight from rafting to a temple will not be admitted in swimwear.
• For large groups, waves mean waiting. Either split across two days or accept the vehicle standing idle.
