Seminyak, Ubud, Canggu or Kuta? Choosing the right Bali area for your group

Choosing a Bali area is not only a lifestyle decision for your client. It sets the transfer zone, the tour driving time, and — for anything above about 30 pax — which vehicles can physically reach the hotel.

Kuta and Legian

Closest to the airport, cheapest transfer band, and the standard choice for short stays and first-time groups. Walkable, busy, plenty of Indian restaurants nearby. Coach note: 39 and 48-seat vehicles cannot enter Kuta without patwal. Kuta hotels · Legian hotels

Seminyak

A step up from Kuta in tone and price, still close to the airport. Suits couples, incentives and groups that want a better product without going inland. Seminyak hotels

Canggu

The area to watch for group logistics. No coach above 35 seats can enter Canggu at all — not with patwal, not by exception. The 29 and 35-seat medium coaches can, and only with patwal. Anything larger has to be split into Hiace vehicles. Canggu hotels

Ubud

Inland, cooler, and the base for temples, rice terraces and Kintamani. Longer and pricier transfer from the airport, and worth pairing with a south-coast stay rather than doing as a day trip. Sanur, Jimbaran and Nusa Dua

Quieter, resort-led, and generally easier for larger vehicles than Kuta or Ubud. Sanur is also the harbour for Nusa Penida boat transfers, which matters if that day trip is in the itinerary.

Sidemen

Rural east Bali — rice terraces and volcano views, very little nightlife. Excellent for a slower second centre, but plan the drive time and the vehicle honestly. Sidemen hotels

The rule of thumb

Under 15 pax, the area is a client preference. Over 30 pax, the area decides the vehicle, and the vehicle decides whether the itinerary is possible at all. Fix the area first, then check the access grid, then quote.
